Salinas River Watershed Coordinator

Salinas River Watershed Coordinator

Project Overview

Funded by the locally active Biodiversity First! and partnering with the Upper Salinas Las Tablas Resource Conservation District, the project goal was to further the development of a two-county watershed plan for the Salinas River watershed covering both Monterey and San Luis Obispo Counties. Together with Stillwater Sciences, the project produced the first conceptual model outline for Steelhead in the Salinas River. Additional products include recommendations for restoration in the watershed, a comprehensive watershed resources inventory, interactive GIS map of the watershed and a proposal to fund an environmental DNA study of the watershed to inform restoration projects going forward.
