Central Coast Youth Environmental Stewardship (CC YES) Program

CC YES is a FREE adventure-based, environmental and climate literacy program for middle school students from groups that are underrepresented in the outdoors and STEM:

  • Programs run Monday through Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm.
  • Groups are kept at a 15 participant maximum.
  • Experience-based learning that includes Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and NOAA’s Essential Principles of Climate Literacy, leadership skills, traditional ecological knowledge, hands-on learning, and outdoor adventures.
  • Activities include hiking, kayaking, nature journaling, hands-on learning, and more!

Participants will visit various locations throughout San Luis Obispo County including:

  • Downtown San Luis Obispo (Terrace Hill, Bishop’s Peak and Cerro San Luis)
  • City Farm SLO and Prefumo Creek Trail
  • Los Osos Creek Wetlands Preserve
  • Montaña de Oro State Park
  • Morro Bay (estuary, Black Hill, kayaking in the bay)
  • Avila Beach and Cal Poly Center for Coastal Marine Sciences pier
